HOSI Wien ruft auf zur:

Selbstbezichtigungsaktion
"Auch ich habe gegen § 209 verstoßen!"

"Nach dem skandalösen Urteil in Wiener Neustadt vergangenen Freitag und da
heute am Landesgericht Wien schon wieder ein Mann wegen dieses
menschenrechtswidrigen Paragraphen vor Gericht steht, hat sich die HOSI Wien
entschlossen, die von ihr vor kurzem ins Leben gerufene
Selbstbezichtigungsaktion 'Auch ich habe gegen § verstoßen!' jetzt breit
öffentlich zu lancieren, um § 209 endlich zu Fall zu bringen", erklärt
Obfrau Helga Pankratz. "Bei dieser Aktion haben wir Anleihe genommen bei
einer ähnlichen Kampagne in den 70er Jahren in Deutschland, bei der rund 400
mutige und teilweise sehr prominente Frauen die teilweise
Entkriminalisierung des Schwangerschaftsabbruchs dadurch beschleunigt haben,
daß sie in einer vielbeachteten Selbstbezichtigungsaktion in der
Illustrierten stern bekannten: 'Ich habe abgetrieben!'"

"Sinn der Aktion ist es", erklärt HOSI-Wien-Obmann Christian Högl, "zu
zeigen, daß § 209 Unrecht ist. Jene, die sich heute dazu bekennen können,
weil ihre "Tat" verjährt ist bzw. weil die jugendlichen Partner nicht
bekannt sind, geben durch ihr Bekenntnis zu verstehen, daß ein Verstoß gegen
§ 209 nichts Schlechtes ist, wofür sie sich schämen oder genieren. Natürlich
ist ein Ziel der Aktion auch, § 209 lächerlich zu machen und ad absurdum zu
führen, damit auch die letzten Hardliner in der ÖVP und FPÖ sehen, daß sie
auf verlorenem Posten stehen."

Gegen § 209 kann im Prinzip jede/r verstoßen ­ nämlich als Mit- bzw.
BeihilfetäterIn. Als KomplizInnen kommen z. B. jene in Frage, die nach § 209
verbotene Sexualkontakte wissentlich ermöglichen bzw. unterstützen, etwa
weil sie dem Paar ein Bett oder die Wohnung zur Verfügung stellen. Sie
können sogar selbst Jugendliche unter 18 sein!

"Am schönsten", meint Pankratz weiter, "wären in der Tat Testimonials von
Müttern, Vätern, Schwestern und besten FreundInnen, die bekennen: 'Ja, ich
habe gegen § 209 verstoßen, indem ich meinem 16jährigen Sohn/Bruder/Freund
das Wochenendhaus/meine Wohnung überließ, damit er mit seinem 19jährigen
Freund allein sein konnte.' Oder Taxi-Orange-Robert könnte erklären: 'Auch
ich habe gegen § 209 verstoßen, weil ich einen 24jährigen Bekannten, dem der
Führerschein entzogen worden war, zum Rendezvous mit seinem 17jährigen
Freund chauffiert habe.'

Die ersten Bekenner haben sich bereits als 209er-"Täter" geoutet, um die
Aktion zu lancieren: Hermes Phettberg und die beiden HOSI-Wien-Aktivisten
Kurt Krickler und Friedl Nussbaumer. Näheres auf der HOSI-Wien-Homepage
www.hosiwien.at. "Ich habe keine Angst vor polizeilicher oder gerichtlicher
Verfolgung", erklärt Krickler, "ich würde auch keine Sekunde zögern, in
Schweden um politisches Asyl anzusuchen, sollten es die
Strafverfolgungsbehörden wagen, ein Verfahren gegen mich einzuleiten. Da die
Politik bei der Beseitigung dieser Menschenrechtsverletzung dermaßen
versagt, ist ziviler Ungehorsam das Gebot der Stunde. Ich hoffe, daß sich
viele der Aktion anschließen werden."

2001 - FEBRUAR 2002

Werte Künstlerin, werter Künstler!

Die Situation in Aghanistan unter der Herrschaft der Taliban ist nicht
intolerierbar. Dort leiden die Frauen täglich unter Gewalt und
Belästigungen und genießen nicht die geringste Freiheit: Sie können
nicht studieren, sich nicht in medizinische Behandlung begeben, auch
nicht arbeiten, lachen, Musik hören. Sie sind gezwungen, die Burka zu
tragen, welhce sie von Kopf bis Fuss verhüllt und die ihnen nur erlaubt,
durch ein dichtes Gitter vor den Augen zu blicken.
Gegenüber dieser Folter bevorzugen viele Frauen den Suizid.

Unsere Absicht ist es, den Kampf von RAWA (Revolutionäre Bewegung der
Frauen Afghanistans) zu unterstützen, damit man sogar in Afghanistan,
wenn auch langsam, dazu übergeht, die elementarsten Menschenrechte zu
respektieren. Deshalb haben wir entschieden, eine internationale Mail
Art Wanderausstellung zu organisieren, deren Thema die Lebensbedingungen
der afghanischen Frauen ist.

Deshalb appellieren wir an Ihre Sensibilität als Künstler und bitten Sie
um einen Beitrag, um dieses Projekt durchführen zu können.

Wenn Sie teilnehmen möchten, können Sie ein Kunstobjekt von Ihnen mit
den maximalen Ausmaßen 20 cm x 30 cm, welches sich auf besagte Thematik
bezieht, bis November 2001 an eine der nachfolgend genannten Anschriften

Laut "www.volksstimmefest.at" findet am Samstag,
1.9., um 18.30 eine von der KPÖ organisierte
Diskussion zum Thema Wohnungspolitik statt an der
auch die PDS-Abgeordnete und Nazi-Sympathisantin
Christine Ostrowski teilnehmen soll.

Anfang der Neunziger traf sich Ostrowski, damals
stellvertretende Parteivorsitzende der PDS, mit
Constantin Mayer, einem Fuehrer der vom deutschen
Bundesinnenministerium verbotenen Nazi-Gruppe
"Nationale Offensive", um hinterher zu resumieren:
"Unsere sozialen Forderungen stimmen im Grunde
überein, bis hin zum Wortlaut." Ostrowski muss,
nachdem das Treffen auffliegt, zuruecktreten, wird aber
als PDS-Vorsitzende in Dresden mit beeindruckender
Mehrheit bestaetigt. 1994 erfaehrt Ostrowski im
Rahmen der Dresdner Oberbuergermeisterwahlen
Unterstuetzung von Seiten neonazistischer
Kaderschmieden. Die verbotene "Wiking-Jugend" wirbt
mit "Unsere Stimme fuer Christine
Ostrowski"-Aufklebern; das Brandenburger
Mitteilungsblatt der Nazi-Gruppe "Nationale e.V."
schreibt: "Die Zustimmung fuer die linksnationalen
Lokalmatadore koennte ein idealer Naehrboden fuer
die Ideen der Neuen Rechten sein." Nach dem
Wahlerfolg der DVU in Sachsen-Anhalt stellt sie sich
die Frage "Warum gelang es der PDS nicht, viele von
denen, die jetzt DVU gewaehlt haben, für sich zu
gewinnen?" Ihre Anwort könnte aus jedem Naziblatt
abgeschrieben sein: "Jeder dritte Bauarbeiter im
Osten ist arbeitslos. Gleichzeitig arbeiten nicht wenige
auslaendische Beschaeftigte auf dem Bau. Kann man
es einem hiesigen Bauarbeiter verdenken, daß er die
Wut kriegt, wenn er nicht zuletzt deswegen seine Arbeit
verliert? Und doch: Der Bauarbeiter ist kein Nazi und
kein Rassist. Man gewinnt ihn nicht, wenn man ihn in
eine fremdenfeindliche Ecke stellt. Er fühlt sich
ungerecht behandelt, zu Recht. Also, seien wir die
Stimme seines Protestes und denken wir darüber
nach, warum wir es nicht sind, jedenfalls nicht genug."

The text below was taken from a newsletter published by the Arab NGO Caucus,
WCAR Durban. It contains statements on "Arab Solidarity with the
International Agenda"; "Racism at Home, Arab Issues"; "Events and Activism
in Durban".

I have included the following excerpt on racism against migrant workers
because I think it is symptomatic of the treatment of the racism issue in
the Arab/Moslem world, in general, and the Middle East, in particular.
Having read it you will notice that racism against "guest workers" in Arab
countries is not mentioned. Arabs are victims, not victimizers.

In my opinion any statement on racism and migration must include the worst
case scenario, i.e. the forced labour - also termed slavery at an academic
conference recently in Beirut - of largely Sri Lanki, Filipino/a, Ethiopian,
and other Asian domestics and construction workers in the Middle East and
the Golf States.

Secondly, the racist laws against Palestinians in Lebanon should also be
included. Palestinians are systematically being excluded from owning land,
from most jobs and from a decent education by the Lebanese government.

If the day-to-day, legal and structural racism against Asians and Africans
in the Arab/Moslem world is ignored, how can we ever expect to defeat
Israeli anti-Semitism against Palestinians or counter Zionist propaganda in
Europe and North America?

2. RESPECT, EQUAL RIGHTS, AND JUSTICE FOR MINORITIES & MIGRANT WORKERS
The Arab NGOs Caucus denounces all forms of racist propaganda and practices
that constitute increasing waves of hatred of COLORED people, MIGRANT
workers, and INDIGENOUS people in addition to all forms of inhumane
practices to which some social categories are exposed to throughout the
world. The absence of democracy and human rights, the meagerness of the
principle of citizenship and legal structures and the despotism of the
national state represent a source of hindering the liquidation of racism.
This is not restricted to developing countries but it is also found in many
developed western communities that witness the prevalence of xenophobia,
Islamophobia, and hatred of the ARABS, the ASIANS, the BLACKS, the so called
"untouchabales" like the ROMAS in Europe and the DALITS in South Asia.

In Particular: "The conference expresses its concern regarding systematic
practices of racial discrimination to which the Romas and gypsies are
subjected to in many parts of the world. Romas and gypsies' civil,
political, economic, social and cultural rights are being gravely violated.
We call upon the World Conference Against Racism (WCAR) to recognize their
rights. We also call upon international institutions and governments and
civil society organizations to work on respecting such categories and
putting an end to the violations, which they are subjected to.

The conference also voices its support of groups and organizations
advocating the rights of Dalits and Casts in India. Cast discrimination is
considered a new form of apartheid. The conference denounces practices of
untouchability and discrimination to which they are subjected in all fields,
including education, health, employment and ownership. We call upon the WCAR
to adopt the claims of advocates of Dalits' fundamental civil, political,
economic and social rights and to take necessary measure to enforce such
rights, especially in regards to women and children" (Declaration of the
Arab Regional Preparatory Conference for the WACR).

This is a response that I received from the "ARAB CAUCUS for Human Rights
NGOs" concerning my mailing on racism against Palestinians in Lebanon and
Asian and African forced labour (often also considered slavery) in the
Middle East. In my mail, I was referring to my own first hand knowledge and
experience in Lebanon.

Discrimination Against Migrant Workers Inside or Outside the Arab World

Migrant workers lack full legal protection in Arab countries where they
work. Different forms of discrimination prevail not only against migrant
workers in favor of the citizens of the hosting states, but between migrant
workers themselves according to their countries of origin.

Arab and foreign migrant workers suffer in the Gulf countries from the
sponsorship system and are deprived of their fundamental rights. As to
situation of migrant workers in the European countries, it is affected by
policies that aim at reducing their numbers on the one hand, and the
appearance of new waves of racism and xenophobia, that amounted to violence
especially against workers of African or Arab descent, on the other hand.

Discrimination against migrant workers is manifested in unequal job
opportunities and the deprival of workers of non-European states of some
rights enjoyed by migrants from European countries.

In this respect, the conference asserts the following:

1- The necessity of respecting basic human rights of all categories of
migrants in receiving states, including those compulsory residing therein in
an illegal way. All states are called upon to review their domestic laws and
making them consistent with international standards. States are called upon
in particular to ratify the International Convention on the Protection of
Migrant workers and Members of their Families of 1990.

2- Calling upon the League of Arab States to draft an Arab agreement on the
protection of the rights of migrant workers and members of their families
and calling upon Arab governments to conduct bilateral and multilateral
agreements between exporting and receiving states of workers to safeguard
the protection of migrant workers and criminalize the phenomenon of mass
lay-off.

3- Annulling the sponsorship system enforced in the Gulf States.

4- Protecting foreign female migrant workers against sexual exploitation and
slavery and safeguarding their social and economic rights.

5- Calling upon all world states to: Ensure migrants' freedom of movement
and take appropriate measures to safeguard equality of economic, social and
political rights for migrant workers-regardless of their decent or
nationality- in accordance with unified policies that pivot on the principle
of equality; Take required legislative procedures to prohibit, ban and
criminalize racist propaganda that incites xenophobia and other related
intolerances.

Utl.: Geld für Infrastrukturmaßnahmen angeblich für
antisemitische Schulbücher verwendet

Berlin (APA/Reuters) - Christdemokratische Mitglieder
des Europa-Parlaments wollen nach Informationen der
"Bild am Sonntag" die Auszahlung von Fördermitteln der
Europäischen Union an die Palästinenser blockieren.
Begründet werde dies damit, von dem für Bildung und
Infrastrukturmaßnahmen vorgesehenen Geld werde unter
anderem der Druck von Schulbüchern mit antisemitischen
Passagen finanziert. In diesen Büchern werde jungen
Palästinensern unter anderem als wichtigstes
Lebensziel der Märtyrertod im Kampf gegen Israel
vermittelt, heißt es in einer Vorausmeldung des
Blattes.

Der deutsche Sprecher im Haushaltsausschuss des
Europa- Parlaments, Amin Laschet, kündigte dem Bericht
zufolge an, in der kommenden Woche die Überweisung von
42 Millionen Mark (21,5 Mill. Euro/295 Mill. S) an die
Palästinenser verhindern zu wollen. Das Geld stammt zu
30 Prozent aus deutschen Steuermitteln. Der
Vorsitzende des Auswärtigen Ausschusses im EP, Elmar
Brok, wolle sich der Initiative anschließen. "Unser
Ziel ist es, dass es zukünftig nur noch Geld für
Projekte in Palästina gibt, die ausschließlich die

christenfeindlichen jüdischen Glaubens gehasst"

"BamS" zufolge will der EU-Außenkommissar Chris Patten
prüfen lassen, ob die Palästinenser eine weitere
EU-Hilfe in Höhe von zehn Millionen Mark monatlich
möglicherweise für Waffenkäufe nutzen. Seit September
dauert in den Palästinensergebieten der Aufstand der
Palästinenser für einen eigenen Staat an. Wiederholte
Selbstmord-Bombenanschläge radikaler
Palästinenser-Organisationen, die sich angeblich in
einem Heiligen Krieg gegen Israel befinden, haben in
Israel Dutzende Menschenleben gefordert.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) mourns the death of
its leader, the general secretary, Abu Ali Mustafa, who was assassinated by
the Israeli army on the morning of 27 August 2001. Abu Ali Mustafa, the
head
of the second largest group within the Palestine Liberation Organization
(PLO), was murdered by Sharon and his government. Sharon, however, acts
with
the full support and backing of the U.S. administration who bears full
responsibility for the new escalation in the Middle East, due to its
uncritical, unconditional, and blind support of the Israeli occupation of
Palestinian lands.
Abu Ali Mustafa was elected general secretary of the PFLP last year, after
Dr. George Habash (Al-Hakim) stepped down from the role. Abu Ali, a
long-standing comrade of Al-Hakim, was a member of the PFLP since its
inception in 1967. Abu Ali held the position of deputy general secretary
until the PFLP's Sixth National Conference, where he was elected general
secretary.
Born in Palestine in 1938 in Arraba, near Jenin, Abu Ali lived most of his
adult life in exile until he returned home in 1999. He was part of the
resistance movement against the Israeli occupation and fulfilled his duties
from abroad as well as from Palestine.
In representing the PFLP, Abu Ali understood clearly his role and the role
of
the PFLP in expressing a radical humanistic vision for the Middle East
problem. He was adamant and articulate in presenting this vision and loyal
to the principles of the party. He defended the Palestinian cause and the
inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them, the right
of refugees to return and the right to establish a sovereign and independent
Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. He called for the
dismantling of all Israeli settlements and for continuing the Palestinian
resistance movement until the Israeli occupation is brought to an end.
He presented the vision of an all-encompassing Palestinian state where
people
would live together in freedom regardless of their race, religion, or color.
He called for a true democratic society where the rights of the majority are
protected by the fulfillment of the rights of the minorities. He called the
Palestinian resistance movement against the Israeli racist, colonialist
occupation, a duty for every Palestinian and for every person who believes
in
equality, justice, and peace.
Abu Ali Mustafa lived and died defending the Palestinian cause and the
rights
of the Palestinian people.
As the PFLP, and all the Palestinian people, mourn its leader, the PFLP vows
to continue the Intifada and the Palestinian resistance movement until the
Israeli occupation is over.
The Life of Abu Ali Mustafa
Abu Ali Mustafa (Mustafa Ali Al-Ali Zabri) joined the Arab National Movement
in 1955 and became a member of the Arab National Association in Amman.
Together with his comrades and colleagues, he confronted the Jordanian
government, calling for the annulment of the Jordanian-British pact and the
dismissal of British officers from the Jordanian army.
In April 1957, he was arrested and imprisoned for several months, shortly
after the Jordanian parliament was dissolved and the Suleiman Nabulsi
government was dismissed. During that time, political parties were banned
and Abi Ali was arrested again with many others who were tried in a military
court. He was sentenced to five years in Jafer Prison in east Jordan.
After being released from prison in 1961, Abu Ali Mustafa continued his
political work with the Arab National Movement and became responsible for
the
Northern District of the West Bank. He founded and built two organizations,
one public, and one underground.
In 1966, Abu Ali was arrested again during a widespread operation organized
by the Jordanian government against the Arab National Movement. Abu Ali was
imprisoned without trial for several months in Zarka Prison in Jordan.
After the 1967 War, Abu Ali Mustafa joined Dr. George Habash in forming the
Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. He led the first commandos
through the Jordan River inside Palestine and started forming the
underground
body of the PFLP. The Israelis searched in vain for him while he was hiding
out in the West Bank. After several months, he secretly returned to Jordan.
In addition to being responsible for the PFLP in the West Bank, Abu Ali
Mustafa became the commando-in-chief of the PFLP military forces (including
the period comprising the battles in Amman in September 1970 and the battle
of Ajloun in July 1971). Afterwards, he left secretly for Lebanon.
In 1972, at the Third National Conference of the PFLP, Abu Ali was elected
deputy general secretary. From 1987 until 1991 he was a member of the
Executive Committee of the PLO.
At the PFLP Sixth National Conference in July 2000, Abu Ali was elected
general secretary.

a nonviolent direct action for the Summer Conference of the

(currently going on in Philadelphia); these activists were operating under
the notion that Abbott was going to be exhibiting. This is not the case;
what follows is a press release from the Pennsylvania Abolitionists

Pennsylvania Abolitionists United Against the Death Penalty issued a demand
to Abbott Laboratories that they immediately stop selling Sodium Thiopental
for use in lethal injection - one of three chemicals utilized to kill human
beings. As a pharmaceutical company, part of the health care industry and
committed to preserving life, it is hypocritical and unethical for Abbott
Laboratories to continue to sell Sodium Thiopental to those who they know
are
using it in a procedure that results in death; such usage, in fact, violates
the purpose for which Sodium Thiopental was granted U.S. Food and Drug
Administration approval. To date, Abbott has not responded nor agreed to
this humanitarian appeal. In a certified letter to Abbott's CEO, Miles D.
Whie, dated August 2nd, Pa. Abolitionists stated that there would be serious
consequences for failure to comply with this reasonable demand:

"If you have not agreed to end the sale of Sodium Thiopental by August 10,
2001, we intend to take nonviolent direct action to expose the unethical
business activities of Abbott Laboratories. We are firm in our demand that
you must stop aiding the murder of human beings."

Based on Abbott's consistent participation in ACA trade shows, Pa.
Abolitionists decided that the American Correctional Association's
conference in Philadelphia this summer provided a prime opportunity to
utilize nonviolent direct action tactics to stop Abbott from profiting from
death and to publicize their unacceptable business practices. As we planned
our action, Pa. Abolitionists remained in contact with ACA trade show
representatives to confirm Abbott's anticipated presence at this summer's
conference. When the ACA convened in Philadelphia on Saturday, August 11th,
we learned that Abbott had opted to stay out of this year's trade show. As
a
result, our action scheduled for Wednesday, August 15th, will not take
place;
the demand, however, remains firmly in place.

It is our hope that those who are united with us in stopping the death
penalty and defending life will join us in mobilizing public pressure until
Abbott ends its complicity with state-sponsored killing. Information,

Hello Judy,

Thank you for your letter expressing concern about the use of Abbott's
sodium thiopental in capital punishment procedures.

Abbott markets sodium thiopental solely for use as an anesthetic agent.
Employment of the drug in capital punishment procedures is clearly
outside of the usage approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Furthermore, Abbott does not support the use of Pentothal in capital
punishment. We have in the past communicated with departments of
corrections in the United States, to request that this product not be
used in capital punishment procedures. Correctional facilities continue
to be purchasers of sodium thiopental for use as an anesthetic in needed
medical treatments provided by those institutions.

Capital punishment is a matter of the greatest complexity, in which the
means and methods employed are not determining issues. A wide variety
of products and materials can be used in such procedures, most of which
are intended by their producers for other uses. Policies on capital
punishment are the purview of government and its policy makers. It is
Abbott's belief that efforts to influence public policy on capital
punishment should be directed at legislators who have the authority and
ability to establish policy.

I hope this information helps you understand Abbott's position on this
issue and our commitment to our mission of improving lives.

I normally enjoy reading the CUADP updates, as they
let me know when and where my efforts can be best
used. But I completely disagree with the attempt to

in lethal injections. Why? Because it is a waste of
time and efforts that could better be put to use in

As long as there is a demand for the drug (meaning as
long as there is a death penalty) then a laboratory is
going to produce it. So why target a company that

Why not use that effort to lobby the state and

I agree with you that we do not want the focus to be on specific chemicals.
Pa Abolitionists has had several people doing research into Abbott
Laboratories and Sodium Thiopental. We are trying to be very clear in our
demand of Abbott, which is that they take an active stance in attempting to
ensure that their product is not used for lethal purposes, NOT that we are
calling for a suspension of production. It is our belief, and the belief of
others around the country who are part of a growing movement to use moral
leverage to make lethal injection as difficult as possible to be carried
out, that there are numerous ways Abbott (and the other companies with products
used in lethal injection) can attempt to prevent their legitimate
pharmaceutical products from being used in killing people. Such solutions
would include simply not selling these products to state Departments of
Corrections that carry out executions (less likely) or building into their
contracts a stipulation that the agency purchasing the product will not
utilize it in the lethal injection process (more likely). There was a recent
situation in Oklahoma where the state hospital system announced that it
would no longer be transferring chemicals for lethal injection to the state D.O.C.
I agree that it is the death penalty that is fundamentally the problem,
however I view this as akin to the successful drive to get companies with
investments in South Africa during apartheid to divest. It was not that
campaign alone that ended apartheid, however it was one outlet for engaging
in the struggle. It is our intention to be very clear that we are not
attacking the production or existence of Sodium Thiopental, but the purpose
for which it is being used. We believe that the amount of money that Abbott
receives from the sale of Sodium Thiopental for lethal injection is so
miniscule that they are very susceptible to negative public attention and a
public linking of them to the death penalty.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for giving me an opportunity to
practice articulating our position on this issue. I hope that this addresses
some of your concerns and that you feel somewhat fewer misgivings about this
action. Please feel free to respond and continue this dialogue. I
appreciate your time in giving input into this action.

Utl.: GLB: ÖGB muss Glaubwürdigkeit signalisieren=

Wien ( OTS ) - Der Beschluss des Präsidiums des ÖGB, die
Urabstimmung vom 24. September bis 15. Oktober durchzuführen,
bedeutet nach Ansicht des Gewerkschaftlichen Linksblocks (GLB) einen
wichtigen Schritt in Richtung der Einbeziehung der Mitglieder in die
Politik der Gewerkschaftsbewegung. GLB-Vorsitzender Manfred Groß
vertritt die Auffassung, dass die Politik der Regierung eine kräftige
und weithin hörbare Gegenstimme notwendig macht: "Diese Regierung hat
sich dazu entschieden, die Sanierung der Staatsfinanzen einseitig zu
Lasten der ArbeitnehmerInnen und der sozial Schlechtergestellten zu
betreiben, wichtige soziale Errungenschaften zu vernichten und im
Sinne des Neoliberalismus den Ausverkauf des öffentlichen Eigentums
Landes voranzutreiben. Dabei werden die Interessen der
ArbeitnehmerInnen verletzt und deren Interessensvertretungen einfach
übergangen oder an die Wand gedrückt. Das können und dürfen sich die
Gewerkschaften nicht mehr länger gefallen lassen. Sie müssen
ihrerseits Maßnahmen ergreifen, um sich zu wehren. Die Urabstimmung
ist dabei das richtige Mittel, um die Abwehr- und Kampfmaßnahmen zu
legitimieren!".

Der Gewerkschaftliche Linksblock übersieht dabei nicht die schwierige
Situation, die durch den Privilegienskandal bei der Post entstanden
ist. Das Vertrauen zehntausender Gewerkschaftsmitglieder wurde
erschüttert und die Folgen sind in allen Bereichen der Gewerkschaft
zu spüren. Das ist auch der Grund, warum sich der GLB an das
Präsidium des ÖGB gewendet hat, um Maßnahmen einzufordern, die
geeignet sind, die Glaubwürdigkeit wieder herzustellen. Nach Meinung
der LinksgewerkschafterInnen soll noch vor der Urabstimmung
beschlossen werden, dass es nur mehr eine bezahlte Funktion geben
soll. Was darüber hinaus an Funktionen ausgeübt wird, soll rein
ehrenamtlich geschehen. Zugleich soll eine Unvereinbarkeitsregel
aufgestellt werden, wonach BelegschaftsvertreterInnen, die sich
Sonderrechte und Vorteile gegenüber ihren Kolleginnen und Kollegen
mit dem Arbeitgeber aushandeln, nicht mit Gewerkschaftsfunktionen
betraut werden dürfen.

Zur Urabstimmung sagte der GLB-Vorsitzende: "Wir werden voll für eine
optimale Beteiligung eintreten und für eine Zustimmung zu
Kampfmaßnahmen argumentieren. Kritisch betrachten wir allerdings die
erste Frage nach der Stärkung der Sozialpartnerschaft. Es war nämlich
genau diese Sozialpartnerschaft, in deren Rahmen der ÖGB in der Frage
der Sozialversicherungen über den Tisch gezogen werden sollte. Hier
hat die Wirtschaftskammer ein übles Spiel, das von der Regierung
inszeniert wurde, mitgespielt. In den anderen Bereichen stimmen wir
voll zu und empfehlen, die Fragen 2 bis 6 eindeutig mit ja zu
beantworten. Ebenso freilich die Frage nach Kampfmaßnahmen zur
Durchsetzung der ArbeitnehmerInneninteressen!".

Der GLB-Vorsitzende tritt für eine "Meinungsoffensive" und eine
entschiedene Auseinandersetzung mit der Politik der Regierung im
Interesse aller ArbeitnehmerInnen unseres Landes ein: "Die
Urabstimmung wird nicht zuletzt auch über die Zukunft der
Gewerkschaftsbewegung entscheiden, die nun gefordert ist, eine
konsequente und glaubwürdige Interessenspolitik zu verwirklichen!",
meint Manfred Groß.
