Sehr verehrte MUND-Redaktion! Liebe Kollegen,

Seit den Wahlen setzen OeVP und hilfreiche Medien die Gruenen massiv unter
Druck, als Koalitionspartner zur Verfuegung zu stehen.
Den politischen Auftrag und die damit verbundenen Hoffnungen verstehen wir
und uns bekannte GruenwaehlerInnen anders. Kein grünes Feigenblatt für die
OeVP!
So wollen wir Stimmen fuer Gruen nicht missverstanden wissen.

Daher startet popo.at eine Petition. Mit der Zusendung der gesammelten
Unterschriften wollen wir den Gruenen zeigen, dass eine Koalition mit der
OeVP an der Basis auf breite Ablehnung stoesst.

03 Demonstration gegen Isolationshaft

An die demokratische Öffentlichkeit!

Seit über zwei Jahren befinden sich politische Gefangene in den
Gefängnissen der Türkei im Todesfasten. Sie wehren sich damit gegen
die neu eingeführten Isolations - Gefängnisse Marke Stammheim. Im Zuge
dieses Widerstandes sind inzwischen schon über 100 Menschen gestorben.
Von Tag zu Tag werden es mehr.
Allein bei der Erstürmung der Gefängnisse, die vom 19. - 22.12.2000
andauerte, wurden 28 Menschen von den Spezialeinheiten ermordet. Der
Widerstand, den die Gefangenen während dieses Angriffes leisteten,
steht für uns stellvertretend für den internationalen Kampf gegen die
Isolationshaft. Diese Form der Folter stellt für alle
fortschrittlichen Kräfte eine der größten Bedrohungen dar. Denn sie
wurde zur systematischen Entmenschlichung der Gefangenen entwickelt,
und auf Grund ihrer "unblutigen" Anwendungsmöglichkeit zum
internationalen Gefägnisstandard erhoben.

Um auch hier in Österreich unseren Widerstand gegen die internationale
Praxis der Isolationshaft auszudrücken, wollen wir uns zu einer
gemeinsamen Demonstration, mit anschließender Diskussionsveranstaltung
versammeln.

05 Forum für Verbesserungsvorschläge

Also jetzt ist es wirklich an der Zeit, finde ich, Ideen einzusammeln und
auszuarbeiten, wie man auf diesem Planeten ein menschenwürdigeres Dasein
bringen kann. Ich eröffne hiermit unter dieser E-Mail ein Forum für
Verbesserungsvorschläge für alle. Will aber keinen Sh*t von wegen, langer
Aufsatz und es ist ja nicht so einfach wie man glaubt und eigentlich bin ich
eh fürn Haider hören, sondern einfach wahlkampfparolisierte Argumente wie:
Machen wir die Straßen zum Acker, oder so. Ich stell mich zur Verfügung das
zu sammeln, und nehme ab jetzt gute Ratschläge an, wie man das
Regierungsdebattenwürdig machen kann. Wenn ich nach Erscheinen dieses
Artikels nicht mehr da bin, bitte ich um eine Gedenkminute auf der DoDeMo.

Die freiheitliche Generalsekretärin Ulli Mair kritisiert auf heftigste
Weise die von der Tageszeitung "Dolomiten" unterstützte Spendenaktion der
jüdischen Kultusgemeinde für die Errichtung eines Gedenksteines auf dem
Friedhof in Oberau in Bozen. Dazu brachten die Freiheitlichen Südtirols
eine Presseerklärung heraus

in der Ulli Mair die Naziverbrechen ausdrücklich rechtfertigt.

"Jeder europäische Mensch sei sich heute dessen bewusst, dass die von
Seiten der Vorfahren gemachten, zum Teil falschen Aktionen, ein Teil der
damaligen Notwendigkeiten für das eigenen Überleben waren. Die Südtiroler
seien schließlich auch Opfer des Faschismus gewesen."

Das Lager Bozen errichteten die Deutschen Ende 1943 oder Anfang 1944 in
Gries, einem Vorort von Bozen. Es war das größte Konzentrationslager in
Italien und konnte 3000 Gefangene aufnehmen. Juden stellten nie mehr als 20
Prozent der Gefangenen. Mehrere Transporte gingen von Bozen nach Auschwitz
beziehungsweise Ravensbrück und Flossenbürg.
Bei ihrer Ankunft wurden die Gefangenen kahl geschoren, ihr Eigentum wurde
konfiziert, sie mußten die Kleidung gegen Häftlingskleidung tauschen. Alle
Gefangenen trugen ein Dreieck mit einer registrierten Nummer auf ihrer
Kleidung. Die Winkel hatten verschiedene Farben: rot für "gefährliche"
politische Gefangene, rosa für "normale" politische Gefangene oder
Armeeangehörige, gelb für Juden. Die Gefangenen mußten innerhalb oder
außerhalb des Lagers schwere Arbeit leisten, sie wurden in der
Landwirtschaft und bei Gleisreparaturen eingesetzt oder mußten in der Nähe
des Lagers Tunnel anlegen. Nur die als "gefährlich" eingestuften
Politischen arbeiteten aus Sicherheitsgründen nicht.
Fluchtversuche waren sollten, zum Teil deshalb, weil die deutschsprachigen
Südtiroler den Italienern vor allem italienischen Juden feindselig
gegenüberstanden. Die wenigen Gefangenen, die doch aus dem Lager
flüchteten, wurden von den Einheimischen gefaßt und an die Lagerwachen
übergeben und nach grausamen Foltern hingerichtet. (Quelle: Enzyklopädie

Originalton Ulli Mair: "Es sei unbestritten, dass eine Aufarbeitung der
Geschichte und der zu unrecht begangenen Gräueltaten an den Juden notwendig
sei. Die müsse jedoch, in Anbetracht der jahrzehntelangen Propaganda, zur
Genüge erfolgt sein. Hier seien vor allem die Lehrer und Medien zu einer
korrekten Überlieferung und zu einer neutralen Geschichtsdarstellung
aufgefordert. Man könne keine Generation der heutigen Südtiroler
Bevölkerung für Fehler, die damals begangen worden seien verantwortlich
machen," so Mair...
Es müsse endlich Schluss gemacht werden mit Schuldzuweisungen aus der
Vergangenheit, wo immer nur die Juden als Opfer dargestellt würden. Jeder
europäische Mensch sei sich heute dessen bewusst, dass die von Seiten der
Vorfahren gemachten, zum Teil falschen Aktionen, ein Teil der damaligen
Notwendigkeiten für das eigenen (sic!) Überleben waren. Die Südtiroler
seien schließlich auch Opfer des Faschismus gewesen.
"Italiens Vize-Minister-Präsident Gianfranco Fini hat sich für die
faschistischen Gräueltaten an den Juden bei diesen offiziell entschuldigt
und beim Parteitag in Fiuggi eindeutig von dieser ewiggestrigen Haltung
distanziert und sich voll zur Demokratie bekannt. Aber in Bozen hat er erst
neulich sein wahres Gesicht gezeigt. Er huldigte vor dem sog. Siegesdenkmal
dem faschistischen Geist und hausierte mit dem von Klestil verliehenen
Orden. Ein Provokateur sondergleichen. Und Südtirols Juden schwiegen",
schreibt Mair weiter.
Folglich sei es nicht nachzuvollziehen, dass nun rechtschaffene und
arbeitsame Südtiroler für einen jüdischen Gedenkstein Geld spenden sollen.
Südtirol habe wichtigere Probleme. Als immer und immer wieder den Juden
Gehör zu verschaffen.
"Sehen wir uns doch endlich die weltweite Situation in allen Bereichen an.
Die Juden haben überall Machtpositionen inne, vor allem in den USA. Haben
die Juden aus der Geschichte gelernt? Oder sollen nur wir daraus lernen?
Man sieht es am Beispiel Palästina. Deshalb bin ich der Meinung, dass die
Südtiroler ihr Geld nicht für einen jüdischen Gedenkstein ausgeben sollen",
schließt Mair.

Ulli Mair will nicht zur Kenntnis nehmen, dass die deutschsprachigen
Südtiroler zwar wirklich Opfer des italienischen Faschismus waren, dass
aber viele ihrer Landsleute auch Täter waren. Ja sie geht weiter, sie
verniedlicht die Naziverbrechen, wenn sie von "falschen Aktionen" spricht
und rechtfertigt diese noch als einen "Teil der damaligen Notwendigkeiten".

07 "Wo seid Ihr? Ihr, die Mitglieder der
Regierung der Vereinigten Staaten im Exil?"

Fuer diejenigen, die es noch nicht gelesen haben, ein Text aus
Michael Moore, Stupid White Men.
Eine Abrechnung mit dem Amerika unter George W.
Bush. Die Texte wurden noch *vor* dem 11. September geschrieben:

"Wo seid Ihr? Ihr, die Mitglieder der Regierung der Vereinigten Staaten im
Exil?"

"Ich bin ein Buerger der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika. Unsere Regierung
wurde gestuerzt. Unser gewaehlter Praesident wurde ins Exil geschickt.
Alte weisse Maenner, die Martinis schwenken und Fliege tragen, haben die
Hauptstadt des Landes besetzt. Wir sind umstellt. Wir sind die Regierung der
Vereinigten Staaten im Exil.
Wir sind viele. Zu uns gehoeren ueber 154 Millionen Erwachsene und
80 Millionen Kinder. Das sind 234 Millionen, die das Regime, das sich
selbst an die Macht gebracht hat, nicht gewaehlt haben und damit auch nicht
von ihm vertreten werden.
Al Gore ist der gewaehlte Praesident der Vereinigten Staaten. Er
erhielt 539898 Stimmen mehr als George W. Bush. Dennoch sitzt er heute nicht
im Oval Office...Wer ist dann der Mann, der jetzt die Pennsylvania Avenue
Nr. 1600 besetzt haelt? Ich sage es ihnen:

Es ist George W. Bush, "Praesident" der Vereinigten Staaten. Der
Gauner im Amt.
Frueher warteten Politiker, bis sie im Amt waren, bevor sie zu
Gaunern wurden. Diesen Gauner jedoch bekamen wir fix und fertig geliefert.
Jetzt ist er ein unbefugter Eindringling in einem Regierungsgebaeude, ein
Hausbesetzer im Oval Office. Wenn ich ihnen sagen wuerde, ich wuerde ueber
Guatemala berichten, wuerden sie mir unabhaengig von ihrer politischen
Ausrichtung sofort glauben. Aber weil der Staatsstreich in die amerikanische
Flagge gewandert war und in den Farben rot, weiss und blau daherkam,
glauben die Verantwortlichen, sie kaemen durch. Deswegen habe ich im Namen der
234 Millionen Amerikaner, die als Geisel gehalten werden, darum gebeten,dass
die NATO das tut, was sie schon in Bosnien und im Kosovo getan hat,
was die Amerikaner auf Haiti taten und was Lee Marvin in "Das dreckig
Dutzend" getan hat:
Schickt die Marines! Macht die SCUD-Raketen startbereit! Bringt uns
den Kopf von Richter Antonin Scalia!
Ich habe an UN-Generalsekretaer Kof Annan geschrieben und ihn um
Hilfe gebeten. Wir sind nicht mehr laenger in der Lage, uns selbst zu
regieren oder freie und faire Wahlen abzuhalten. Wir brauche UN-Beobachter,
UN-Truppen, UN-Resolutionen!

Der Coup wurde schon lange vor den miesen Tricks am Wahltag 2000
geplant. Im Sommer 1999 zahlte Katherine Harris vier Millionen Dollar an
Database Technologies. Harris ist nicht Ehrenmitglied bei den dummen weissen
Maennern, sondern auch stellvertretende Wahlkampfleiterin *und*
Innenministerin von Florida. Damit war sie fuer die Durchfuehrung der Wahl in ihrem
Staat verantwortlich. Database sollte die Wahlregister Floridas durchgehen
und jeden streichen, den man eines Verbrechens "verdaechtigte". Harris
handelte mit dem Segen des Gouverneurs von Florida, George W.s Bruder Jeb
Bush - dessen tugendhafte Gemahlin einmal bei dem Versuch erwischt wurde,
Schmuck im Wert von 19000 Dollar am Zoll und der Steuer vorbei ins Land zu
schmuggeln... Das ist eigentlich eine Straftat. Aber hey, wir sind
in Amerika. Wir verfolgen Verbrecher nicht, wenn sie oder mit einem
regierenden Bush verheiratet sind.
Laut Gesetz duerfen Vorbestrafte in Florida nicht waehlen.
Natuerlich bin ich
davon ueberzeugt, dass die Richter in Florida stets untadelig und
voellig unvoreingenommen urteilten. Aber dieses Gesetz hatte traurigerweise
zur Folge, dass 31 Prozent aller maennlichen Schwarzen in Florida nicht
waehlen durften. Harris und Bush wussten, dass druch die Streichung der
Vorbestraften aus den Wahlregistern Tausende von schwarzen Buergern
von den Wahlurnen ferngehalten werden wuerden.
Die schwarzen Buerger Floridas sind in ueberwaeltigender Mehrheit
Demokraten - zweifellos bekam Al Gore am 7. November 2000 ueber 90 Prozent ihrer
Stimmen. Das heisst, 90 Prozent aller Buerger, die waehlen durften.
Mit einem Streich, der nichts anderes als ein Massenbetrug durch den
Staat Florida war, entfernten Bush, Harris und Database nicht nur Tausende
schwarzer Buerger mit Vorstrafen aus dem Register, sondern auch
Tausende schwarzer Buerger, die noch nie in ihrem Leben eine Straftat
begangen hatten - zusammen mit Buergern, die nur geringfuegige Vergehen
begangen hatten.

Wie war das moeglich? Database (eine Firma mit starken Verbindungen
zu den Republikanern) erhielt von Harris' Buero die Anweisung, das Netz so
weit wie moeglich zu spannen und soviele Waehler wie moeglich loszuwerden.
Das Unternehmen sollte sogar Buerger streichen, deren Namen "aehnlich"
klangen wie die der Vorbestraften. Database musste auch Buerger ueberpruefen,
die das gleiche Geburtsdatum wie bekannte Vorbestrafte oder die gleiche
Sozialversicherungsnummer hatten. Eine achtzigprozentige
Uebereinstimmung der relevanten Informationen, so die Anweisung des Wahlbueros, genuegte,
damit ein Waehler auf der Liste der Nicht-Wahlberechtigten landete.
Selbst fuer das bushfreundliche Unternehmen waren diese
Instruktionen schockierend. Sie bedeuteten, dass Tausende von Waehlern am Wahltag
von der Ausuebung ihres Wahlrechts abgehalten werden wuerden, weil ihr Name
aehnlich klang wie der eines Bankraeubers oder weil sie zufaellig am selben
Tag Geburtstag hatten wie er. Marlene Thorogood, Projektmanagerin bei
Database, schickte Emmett "Bucky" Mitchell, einem Rechtsanwalt im Wahlkomitee
von Harris, eine E-Mail, in der sie ihn warnte: "Leider koennte eine
derartige Programmierung Ihnen falsche Ergebnisse liefern". Thorogood meinte
damit Namensverwechslungen. Nicht so schlimm, entschied der gute alte
Bucky: "Wir wollen lieber Namen erfassen, auf die unsere Kriterien
moeglicherweise nicht zutreffen, und dann dann die Wahlaufsicht (des Bezirks) endgueltig
entscheiden lassen, als bestimmte Namen ganz auszuschliessen."
Database tat wie geheissen. Schon bald wurden 173000 Waehler in
Florida fuer immer aus dem Wahlregister gestrichen. In Miami-Dade, dem groessten
Regierungsbezirks Florida, waren 66 Prozent der aus dem Register
gestrichenen Waehler Schwarze. Im Bezirk Tampa waren 54 Prozent
derjenigen, denen am 7. November 2000 die Wahl verboten wurde, Schwarze.
Aber Harris und ihr Ministerium gaben sich nicht damit zufrieden,
aus dem Wahlregister nur Namen von Buergern zu streichen, die in Florida
angeklagt oder vorbestraft waren. Zusaetzlich wurden 8000 weitere Buerger
Floridas aus den Registern gestrichen, weil Database ein falsche Liste benutzte,
die ein anderer Bundesstaat geliefert hatte. Angeblich waren auf dieser
Liste die Namen von Vorbestraften verzeichnet, die nach Florida gezogen waren.
Es hat sich herausgestellt, dass die Straftaeter auf der Liste ihre
Strafen abgesessen und ihr Wahlrecht wiedererhalten hatten. Ausserdem
standen auch Buerger auf der Liste, die nur Ordnungswidigkeiten begangen hatten -
zum Beispiel Falschparken oder Muell-nicht-vorschrifsmaessig-Entsorgen.
Und nun raten Sie mal, welcher Staat Jeb und George unter die Arme griff und
die falschen Zahlen nach Florida schickte?

Texas.

Die ganze Affaere stinkt zum Himmel, aber die amerikanischen Medien
ignorierten sie. Nur die BBC hakte nach und brachte zur besten
Sendezeit einen viertelstuendigen Bericht in den Nachrichten, in dem
saemtliche schmutzigen Details aufgedeckt und die Verantwortung fuer den Betrug
direkt Gouverneur Bush zugeschrieben wurde. Traurig, traurig, wenn wir das
Fernsehen eines 8000 Kilometer entfernten Landes ansehen muessen, um
die Wahrheit ueber unsere eigenen Wahlbetruegereien zu erfahren.
(Schliesslich griffen die Los Angeles Times und die Washington Post die Geschichte
auf, sie wurde jedoch kaum beachtet.)
Der Angriff auf das Wahlrecht von Minderheiten war in Florida so

war, sondern zur Wahlaufsicht von Madison County in Florida gehoerte! Sie
und andere Wahlbeauftragte versuchten den Staat dazu zu bringen, den
Fehler zu korrigieren, aber ihre Gesuche wurden abschlaegig beschieden. Ihnen
wurde gesagt, dass jeder, der sich beklage, er werde zu Unrecht am Waehlen
gehindert, sich Fingerabdruecke nehmen lassen muesse. Anschliessend
werde der Staat entscheiden, ob die Person kriminell sei oder nicht.
Am 7. November 2000 draengten die schwarzen Buerger Floridas in
Rekordzahlen an die Wahlurnen, doch vielen wurde im Wahllokal schroff mitgeteilt:
"Sie duerfen nicht waehlen". In einigen Vierteln der Innenstaedte waren
die Wahllokale durch Polizeiaufgebote geschuetzt, die jeden am Waehlen
hindern sollten, der auf Katherines und Jebs "Verbrecherliste" stand.
Hunderte gesetzestreuer Buerger, die ihr von der Verfassung garantiertes
Wahlrecht ausueben wollten, wurden in den ueberwiegend von Schwarzen und
Hispanics bewohnten Bezirken weggeschickt, und wenn jemand protestierte, wurde

Government trying to isolate Peace 2000 from the world. Media Ban, Smear
Campaign and Internet Shutdown

A systematic campaign to discredit Peace 2000 and its President Thor
Magnusson is taking place in the Icelandic media. Earlier this week State TV
and Radio reported that a charge has been issued by the Icelandic State
Prosecutor calling for 3 year prison sentence over AstThor Magnusson. But
the news are a fabrication and an obvious campaign to scare activists from
speaking out. Authorities are obviously struggling to find legal grounds in
Icelandic law to make the charges in court. State Police replied to a letter
from our lawyer that no charge has been made yet. The lawyer said our phones
are being tapped and now he is so scared he is refusing to give Peace 2000 a
copy of the written reply from the Police worried about our distribution
internationally.

State TV reported that the WARNING TO AIR PASSENGERS has reached hundreds of
thousands of people internationally. They filmed the Peace 2000 webpage that
carries the warning. Within hours our Internet connection was shut down
completely. All Peace 2000 websites are now down and completely shut off
from the world. We are sending you this message through a friends dial-up
connection.

Media Smear Campaign

The Media is refusing to carry press releases from us. Their news are so one
sided that we have filed a complaint with the ethics committee of the
Icelandic Press Association and the Independent Committee of the State
Radio. We have asked if Peace 2000 and Thor Magnusson are subject to a state
controlled media smear campaign and who is pulling the strings.

Government Ministers are giving different stories about the agreement to use
Icelandic aircraft for NATO. Some are saying the passenger aircraft of
Icelandair and Air Atlanta will carry weapons and troops, others are saying
they will only be carrying "humanitarian aid" for NATO! Foreign Minister
gave a speech in the Althing and described how NATO has "brought peace to
Jugoslavia and Afghanistan" following their humanitarian bombing of the
countries. We have sent letters to Prime Minister David Oddsson and Foreign
Minister Halldor Asgrimsson asking which one of them is lying about the
intended NATO use of Icelandic passenger aircraft.

Corrupt Members of Icelandic Parliament engaged in scandal cover-up

Hundreds of protest letters from all over the world are flooding email boxes
of parliamentarians, civil servants and the media in Iceland. It´s really
working! They are now running so scared they have started using corrupt
members of parliament to call peace activists and lie to them about our
story.

The latest is a member of the Left/Green Party, Mr. Arni Steinar Johannsson,
called an activist in the USA and told him that the prison I was held in is
like a "country club" and nothing like what I have described. A reporter
wanted to photograph the prison cell, but the police refused. We should
demand the prison cell being shown to the media, preferably the
International media.

The media in Iceland has systematically been used to try to discredit me.
Hardly anyone has the guts to speak out. Members of parliament do not want
to disturb their opposition too much because after upcoming elections they
may need their support for forming a multi-party government. What is
happening here is the death of a one thousand year old democracy.

Employees of the newspapers DV have made physical threats against my person
which are now being investigated by the police. I call on you to ask your
newspaper and TV media contacts to see the prison cell I was kept in and
send a request for this to the enclosed email list for distribution to all
members of parliament, civil servants and the media in Iceland.

WARNING TO AIR PASSENGERS:

WARNING: Icelandair, Atlanta, Air France, Iberia, Virgin Atlantic, Malaysia
Airlines, Saudia Airlines, Air Algerie, Excel Airways, Garuda Indonesia, Air
Asia, Southern Winds Airlines, Nigeria Airways, Aeromar. These airlines may
be using aircraft under contract to fly dangerous weapons and troops.

The Prime Minister of Iceland Mr. David Oddsson has announced an agreement
with civil airlines intended to strengthening NATO military operations by
placing the transport capacity of passenger aircraft at the disposal of NATO
to move weapons and troops. Former Icelandic Presidential Candidate, Mr.
Thor Magnusson leader of the Peace 2000 movement, was imprisoned when
alerting police, members of parliament, civil servants and airlines to the
immediate danger this poses to airline passengers that now may be flying in
aircraft which form a part of the NATO military program. Mr. Oddsson said
movement of weapons with these aircraft could start as soon as military
agression is launched against Iraq. Many believe the agreement makes these
aircraft a legitimate target for opponents in NATO warfare.

Peace 2000 contacted both Icelandair and Air Atlanta asking for details of
the agreement, and for more details about armaments transport the Prime
Minister said to news reporters have already taken place with Atlanta
aircraft. After meeting with the chief of the Icelandic Air Safety Board Mr.
Petur Maack, Peace 2000 has a reason to believe international air safety
regulations, the JAR protocol, has been compromised. A reason for additional
alarm is the airlines refusal to give Peace 2000 any details of the
agreement or activities related to this agreement.

INTERNATIONAL WARNING:

Please be aware that if you are intending to travel with Icelandair or Air
Atlanta you may be posed to additional security risk. In the opinion of
Peace 2000 these aircraft may now fall within the category of targets
described by Osama Bin Laden and his followers. Bin Laden s call for terror
published Sunday 24th November in the British Press is an additional cause
for alarm.

Icelandair operates a trans-atlantic route from Minneappolis/St.Paul, New
York, Boston, Baltimore/Washington, Orlando/Florida in the USA to:
Reykjavik, Helsinki, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Glasgow, London,
Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris, Milano and Barcelona.

Air Atlanta operates under it´s own name, but many of their aircraft are
camouflaged in the colors and identity of other carriers. According to
Atlanta´s website these include: Virgin Atlantic, Air France, Saudia, Air
Algerie, Iberia, Excel Airways, Garuda Indonesia, Air Asia, Nigeria Airways,
Aeromar, Malaysia Airlines, Southern Winds and various holiday tour
operators flying out of London Gatwick airport. Known routes are: Buenous
Aires to Miami and Madrid, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpor, Lagos, London Gatwick,
London Heathrow for Virgin Atlantic to Lagos Nigeria, Manchester UK for
Virgin Atlantic to Orlando Florida, Santo Domingo for Aeromar to Carribian
Islands and the USA.

Peace 2000 suggests the following precautions to passengers:
Call your airline to make sure that they are not using aircraft from
Icelandair or Atlanta.
You can recognize Icelandic aircraft by their registration ID which starts
with TF-
If you have other travel options, select a different airline
If you do not have other options, take out life insurance for the benefit of
your family.
If you already hold a reservation or have paid for your ticket:
In the opinion of Peace 2000 the use of civil aircraft for military purposes
is a breach of international regulations. You should therefore be able to
demand a full refund of your ticket.

"WARNING TO AIRLINE PASSENGERS" sent to Icelandic Police for Censorship.
The Airlines have refused to answer our letter and enquiry. As a result
Peace 2000 has today sent to the Icelandic Police Commissioner text we want
to issue as a warning to passengers intending to travel on Icelandair and
Air Atlanta. The chief of police is being asked if the text will result in a
second arrest of Thor Magnusson. We have taken certain precautions in the
circumstances the police would not reply to the draft text but would
illegally arrest and detain Thor in prison isolation as last week. To make
sure they cannot stop the warning on such illegal basis, the text has also
been sent for safe keeping to selected activists both in Iceland and
internationally. If our warning has not been issued by midnight GMT 30th.
November, and if there is no update on this website or if this website is
down, you should expect that something is wrong. The Hausman Peace Project
is one of the people that has been sent a copy of the Warning to Airline
Passengers for safe storage.

Peace 2000 leader arrested and imprisoned & our computers confiscated in
Iceland!
Last Friday Icelandic Prime Minister Mr. David Oddsson and Foreign Minister
Mr. Halldor Asgrimsson surprised and shocked most of our formerly peaceful
nation with an announcement from the NATO meeting in Prague, that Iceland is
no longer a by-stander in military actions and that an agreement has been
made with two Icelandic public transport airlines, Icelandair and Atlanta,
to use their passenger aircraft for transportation of NATO weapons and
soldiers. We have never had a military following a peace meeting by the
Vikings at our Althing in the year 1000! But our misguided Prime Minister
Mr. Oddsson said this new policy of his government is to "strengthen the
military might of the NATO alliance" and to "fly troops and military
equipment to war areas and that the Icelandic government would pay for it".
The news indicated the first flight operation using Icelandic passenger
aircraft for the transportation of weapons and troops may be as soon as with
an upcoming war with Iraq that the Prime Minister expects that NATO and his
government will support.

I issued a warning immediately on Friday that any agreement linking the use
of passenger aircraft with NATO or with the transportation of weapons and
troops will compromise the security of those aircraft - also when conducting
normal passenger flights.

Within hours of my warning Friday I was arrested by the Icelandic Police. I
was taken from a restaurant down town by secret police that was in no
uniform into an unmarked car. They refused to let my fiancee and the other
people I was with in the restaurant know that I was being arrested. A man
simply asked me to come with him outside for a moment, and there he arrested
me. They could have ditched anywhere and nobody would have known!!! I was
thrown into jail and kept there for several days in complete isolation. The
first night I was kept in a cell without any toilet and had to do my things
on the floor!!! Only when the High Court heard an appeal the Police released
me.

But it does not seem to be the end! News report last night said that the
police was looking at another letter I sent to the directors of the airlines
yesterday, and that today they will make a decision for further action. Our
lawyer suggested I sleep the night in hiding somewhere.

People have been phoning us constantly - everyone is shocked. Lawyers say
that the arrest has no foundation in law. Our best-known human rights
lawyer, Mr. Ragnar Adalsteinsson took it up by himself to speak out in a
shock over this on TV while I was in the prison. He tells me the law
professors at the Reykjavik University are also shocked. EkstraBladet, a
major newspaper in Denmark, said that the imprisonment of the leader of
Peace 2000, former Icelandic Presidential Candidate AstThor Magnusson was an
obvious action to "shut the mouth of the opposition".

A man called me last night and told me that he has knowledge that my arrest
was decided in the Prime Ministers office building. Politicians are not
supposed to have any influence on the police here, but this seems to be
changing now.

The police raided the Peace 2000 offices and my home in the middle of the
night and confiscated computers. They have refused to return the computers
and are keeping all member databases and contact lists. Earlier this year,
when the President of China visted Iceland, the Icelandic police worked with
a "black list" of Falun Gong practitioners that wanted to do a peaceful
demonstration against Human Rights abuses in China. On instructions from the
government of China as it seems, they arrested whole groups of Falun Gong
tourists upon arrival in the country and kept them in a detention centre.
The Icelandic police also got the airlines to cooperate and give access to
reservation lists to refuse boarding in foreign airports if their name was
found on the black list from China. We fear that they have now started to
create a black lists of the Peace 2000 members and that this may be used in
a similar way as with the Falun Gong black list.

We have written to the directors of both airlines. We have asked them to
increase security immediately and to terminate said armaments transport
agreement forthwith. In our opinion, while any such agreements are in place,
these aircraft are at increased risk as they seem in that situation to fall
exactly within the description of targets by terrorist groups. It is clear
that my warning and calling for extra security last Friday was valid. While
I was being detained in prison, the UK Observer newspaper printed a new
letter from Osama Bin Laden where he calls for terrorist attacks against
civilian targets. Yesterday there was an attempt to shoot down an Israeli
passenger aircraft.

Many fear that the Icelandic government ministers have become so corrupt
that they may try to use the police again today to send me back to prison in
an attempt to stop me talking about this.

We wonder whether Iceland is prepared to abandon its good record on civil
rights in order to play a role as maid-servent to NATO.

We were appalled to hear of the arrest of our friend Astthor Magnusson,
whose good reputation as a committed advocate of peaceful relations
between nations is well known world-wide. The tactic of his arrest on the
street has more in common with Chile under Pinochet than the democratic
traditions of brave Iceland. We know full well how civil rights have been
ferociously attacked in the U.S. since 9-11. But who could have imagined
that such would also be the case in democratic Iceland. We wonder whether
the current government has any respect for the proud and independent
traditions of your nation to act in such a manner, as the unapologetic
servent of the new world empire. If it is proposed that Iceland is to
become a vassel state of NATO and the U.S. surely this should put first
be to your citizens in the form of a referendum?

We add our voice to those in the international community who protest most
strongly and most vehemently against this outrage.

We demand that no passenger airliners be used for war purposes, whether
combat or supply.

We demand that a public apology should be given to the friends of peace
in Peace 2000.

We demand that their computers and other possessions be immediately
returned.

We demand that the police destroy any information unconstitutionally
taken from the offices of Peace 2000.

We demand that a public statement be made that no prosecutions should
follow.

We demand a statement by the appropriate government minister that law
shall prevail.

We demand compensation for Astthor Magnusson for his wrongful arrest and
shameful imprisonment.

We stand by the people of Iceland in their opposition to NATO war and the
misuse of civilian aircraft for war purposes. Peace 2000 are factually
quite correct in stating that such use potentially turns Icelandic
passenger jets into military targets.

Let us understand where the direction of this madness may lead and put a
stop to it, right now.

Kicking off the holiday season, Governor Jeb! Bush will oversee the
execution of Linroy Bottoson, 62, at 6pm on December 6 in revenge for his
1979 murder of Catherine Alexander. As usual, this execution is of a
person who is not necessarily one of Florida's worst killers - just one of
its weakest.

"Linroy Bottoson committed a horrible crime for which he must be punished,"
said Abe Bonowitz, director of Floridians for Alternatives to the Death
Penalty, "but life imprisonment without possibility of parole is the
appropriate punishment, and it is the punishment used in more than 98% of
capital cases in Florida. Linroy Bottoson is being killed tonight not
because his crime was the among the worst, but because he killed in a
county which can afford a death penalty trial, because he had terrible
legal assistance at his trial, and because he is mentally ill."

Shortly before the crime for which he was convicted, Bottoson was
discharged from a mental hospital with the discouraging prognosis that he
was a "latent schizophrenic." He believed that the "devil had got on him"
and that he could raise the dead. His mental illness, as diagnosed by
countless state and private analysts, continues to manifest to this

#2 - EXECUTION COMES ON THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST U.S. LETHAL
INJECTION

On Dec. 7, 1982, Texas prisoner Charlie Brooks became first inmate in the
United States to die on the gurney. In the 20 years since then, 644 have
followed. If Linroy Bottoson is killed in Florida on December 6, 2002, he
will become the 646th U.S. prisoner to be exterminated by lethal injection.

37 states as well as the U.S. Military and the federal government now use
lethal injection as the preferred method of execution, although many of
these states have the option of lethal injection or some other form of
execution. Only Nebraska still uses electrocution exclusively.

Lethal injection was invented by Adolph Hitler's personal physician and was
first used in October 1939 and 1940 in Austria and Germany to eliminate
10,000 "defective" children. "Many Americans assume that lethal injection
was invented in this country," said Abe Bonowitz, director of Floridians
for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. "But history reveals its gruesome
origin. Far from learning from history's mistakes, we are repeating them
tonight with the extermination of Linroy Bottoson, a mentally ill black
man."

against the planned execution of Linroy Bottoson, 62, who is scheduled to
be killed by the people of Florida in revenge for his 1979 murder of
Catherine Alexander.
