01 Volxtheater-Lesung zum Biometrieprozess

Beim EU-Gipfel in Thessaloniki im Juni 2003 wurde u.a. beschlossen
persönliche,
biometrischen Daten in die EU-Pässe aufzunehmen. In der Folge startete die
VolxTheaterKarawane bereits wenige Tage später als "European Institute for
Biometric Research" ein erstes Pilotprojekt.
Im Rahmen des Festival der Regionen in Oberösterreich besuchte das mobile
Einsatzkommando das Stiftsgymnasium Lambach und richtete ein biometrisches
Vermessungslabor ein. Datenmaterial durch Mundhölenabstriche und die Abnahme
von Fingerabdrücke wurden von den SchülerInnen ebenso erhoben, wie
Bankverbindung der Eltern und deren Pin Codes. Die Erfassung dieser Daten
stellte kein größeres Problem dar. Die Anwesenden LehrerInnen interessierten
sich zum Teil kaum für die "Untersuchungen" des seltsam anmutenden
WissenschaftlerInnen-Teams und der Direktor des Stiftsgymnasium meinte
anfänglich sogar, dass der Zeitpunkt gerade günstig sei, da seine Schule im
Moment Projektwoche hätte.
Einigen Eltern waren berechtigter Weise gegen die biometrische
Datenerfassungen
an ihren Kindern. Ihr Protest richtete sich jedoch nicht gegen die geplanten
EU-Maßnahmen, sondern gegen den künsterlisch-aufklärerischen Akt der
VolxTheaterKarawane. Derzeit stehen vier Volxtheater-ArtivistInnen wegen
"Amtsanmaßung" und "Vortäuschung falscher Tatsachen" vor Gericht.
Im Rahmen des Wiener Kongress soll sowohl über den Verlauf des
Gerichtsprozesses
in Form einer Lesung aus dem Gerichtsakt, als auch über die allgemeinen
Entwicklungen, was die systematische Erfassung biometrischer Daten betrifft,
informiert werden.

dringend polizeiopfer gesucht (vorsicht:polizei macht aus opfern,täter)
einladung zu einer diskusionrunde zum thema:
polizeigewalt,diskriminirung und rassistische polizei übergriffe
und umgang der justiz mit den opfern von polizeigewalt.
Es wird ein polizist über seine polizeiarbeit, den Apparat und
seine erlebnisse berichten. opfer werden über eigene Erfahrungen
sprechen. Ebenfalls möchten wir in dieser Runde an Stephan Neisius
als Opfer von Polizeigewalt erinnern, anschließend können Fragen
gestellt werden und wünschen uns eine Diskusion dazu.
Wir laden alle ein, die sich für das Thema interessieren und
etwas dazu beitragen können,i speziell auch die Presse -Medien,
Menschenrechtsorganisationen, andere opfer der staatsgewalt.

Colnbrook Removal Centre - detainees refuse to return to their cells
On Sunday 1st of May 2005 at 6.00pm 16 detainees in B unit refused to
return to their cells. All other detainees on the wing were locked
into their cells whilst the incident was dealt with. 8 of the
refusees returned to their cells voluntarily, it took until 3.00am on
Sunday morning to return the remaining 8 to their cells, all 16 have
now been removed to prison establishments.
Detainees in the centre said the protest was started over two
incidents one of the detainees had been trying to send a story to a
national newspaper and was prevented by staff from doing so. A
detainee was beaten up by staff and taken into segregation the
incident happened in front of detainees.
It is believed that most of those involved in the protest were
nationals of Jamaica, though as all those involved have been moved to

Non à la Participation de la Suisse au Massacre des Kurdes !

Le gouvernement helvétique vient de décider la levée de l'embargo sur la
vente d'armes à la Turquie en vigueur depuis 1992, alors que l'Etat turc
continue ses campagnes militaires contre la population kurde. Auparavant,
la Suisse avait pourtant décidé d'imposer cet embargo à la Turquie parce que
'les armes risquaient d'être utilisées contre les populations civiles ».

Depuis 1992 l'Etat suisse avait arrêté la vente d'armes à la Turquie, car le
risque d'utilisation de celles-ci contre les populations civiles était trop
important, vue l'évolution au Moyen-Orient.
La Suisse a tout de même gardé d'importantes relations économiques avec la
Turquie, ainsi malgré l'opposition internationale elle a continué le projet
de barrage à Ilisu.
Suite à la reconnaissance du génocide arménien il y a quelques mois par le
canton de Waadt, le ministre des Affaires Etrangères suisse Calmy-Rey a été
déclarée persona non grata et sa visite en Turquie a du être annulée.
Finalement lors de ses visites du mois d'avril à Diyarbakir et Ankara Rey a
réussi à normaliser les relations entre les deux pays et dés son retour en
Suisse, il avait déclaré que l'embargo sur les armes a été levé.
Hier lors d'une déclaration commune les ministères des affaires étrangères
et celui de l'économie ont annoncé qu'ils se réjouissaient de voir que les
relations économiques allaient se normaliser avec la reprise de la vente d'
armes. L'accord de la Turquie ayant été obtenu la suisse se prépare dores et
déjà aux ventes futures d'armes à la Turquie. Pourtant la guerre signifie
mort, destruction et exode, ce qui annonce que de nouveaux flux de
populations kurdes et turcs vont se diriger vers la Suisse Le peuple Suisse
ne doit pas être la proie de quelques marchands d'armes et doit agir en
commun avec les organisations civiles pour obtenir une résolution politique
du problème kurde.

Les chiffres de 2004 parlent de 402,4 millions de francs Suisse concernant
la vente d'armes. Ce qui signifie une augmentation de 23.4 millions Sfr par
rapport à l'année précédente. Le premier client de la Suisse est l'Allemagne
avec 66.6 millions d'achat, viennent ensuite l'Espagne et les Etats Unis d'
Amérique. Cette même année la Suisse a refusé de vendre à 18 pays, car elle
estimait qu'il y avait un risque d'utilisation contre les populations
civiles. Aujourd'hui en revanche elle tombe contraire à cette décision, car
on sait que cette fois ces armes vont être utilisées contre les civils
kurdes tout comme il l'a été auparavant.

Toutes les organisations de défense des Droits de l'Homme annoncent dans
leurs rapports que de graves atteintes aux de droits de l'Homme persistent
en Turquie et que la violence contre les kurdes est loin d'avoir cessée. Par
ailleurs, lors d'une récente déclaration commune 58 maires (issus du parti
DEHAP) ont attesté que la violence s'intensifiait dans la région kurde.
Ainsi Ugur, un enfant de 12 ans et son père ont été froidement abattu chez
par la police turque il n'y a que quelques mois. Quelques jours auparavant
ce sont 2 guérilleros du HPG (Les forces de défense populaire) qui ont été
capturés par l'armée turque, ils ont été tués sous la torture.

Cette année lors des célébrations du nouvel an kurde, le Newroz, des
millions de kurdes ont affirmé leur volonté de résolution pacifique du
problème kurde dans le cadre d'un Confédéralisme. L'Etat turc a répondu à
cet appel en ayant recours à encore plus de violence, dans ce contexte ce n'
est pas en vendant des armes que doit intervenir la Suisse, mais plutôt en
essayant d'imposer le système confédéral, qu'est le sien, à la Turquie.

MALINAU, Indonesia - Many of us suspect it as we trudge to work in the
morning, but scientists studying some of the last primitive tribes in
deepest Borneo say they now have proof -- modern life is, indeed, rubbish.A team of experts has spent months comparing the lives of the Punan people,
who still live as hunter-gatherers in the forest of Indonesian Borneo, with
those of tribe members who have been lured away by civilisation.
Not surprisingly, many of the Punan's dreams are dashed on arrival in the
big city, however the scientists say that even basics like food, health and
quality of life also turn out to be much worse in town than the forest.
While it is unlikely the findings will encourage jaded office clerks to shed
their suits and head for the jungle, researchers hope they might preserve
ancient traditions by warning the Punan and other tribes what they risk
losing.
Changing lifestyles
"They want modern life, they want to wear T-shirts and jeans and drink
Coca-Cola, they are attracted to all these things," says Edmond Dounias, of
Centre for International Forestry Research team.
"But what they underestimate is what it will cost them in terms of their way
of life, their culture and the benefits they gained from the forest."
Only a few hundred thousand hunter-gatherers remain on Earth, among them the
Punan who roam the lowland forests of East Kalimantan in Indonesian Borneo,
which despite its lush appearance, is no garden of Eden.
Hazards such as malaria and parasites ensure that only one percent of women
and two percent of men reach the age of 65. Infant mortality rates are some
of the highest in the world, with a third of children dying under the age of
five.
With many Punan -- who traditionally stretch their earlobes with heavy brass
or gold piercings -- now settled in villages, they are more prone to
outbreaks of disease than in the past when nomadic lifestyles kept them
isolated.
According to 2003 statistics there were 8,956 Punan in East Kalimantan, of
which 4,500 are now living in and around Malinau.
For more than two thirds of Punan questioned by Dounias and his team of
ethnologists, access to healthcare is reason enough to pack their meager
belongings into a dugout canoe and paddle down river to the nearest city.
Their destination is Malinau, a boomtown whose population has leapt from
20,000 to 50,000 in four years as migrants pour in to work in the nearby
coalmines and the lucrative, and often illegal, logging industry.
In Malinau, 1,400 kilometres (870 miles) northeast of Jakarta, residents
live in houses with electricity, wear Western clothes, drive cars on
recently tarred roads, talk into cell phones and, when they choose to, drink
Coca-Cola.
Lost benefits.
But, says Dounias, once they arrive in the city, many Punan find themselves
treated as second-class citizens, unable to afford the healthcare they
aspired to and exposed to problems like drug and alcohol abuse.
"They have lost benefits of the forest such as clean water which has become
a real problem near the cities because of pollution and use of pesticides,"
he says. "They also no longer have access to their culture of mutual aid."
Robbed of the rich resources of their forest environment, the diet of many
Punan also suffers, with their choice of varied bushmeats, fruits and
nutritious roots replaced by a limited diet of rice and low-quality meats.
Their tradition of eating regular snacks found in the undergrowth is
replaced by consuming unhealthy pre-packaged food such as potato chips or
fat-laden cakes, leading some young Punan to develop weight problems.
In an effort to encourage the Punan to stay put, the Centre for
International Forestry Research is working with local authorities and
medical groups including Medecins du Monde to take medical help to remote
villages.
Greg Clough, a communications specialist at the forestry research centre,
says the study could help influence government policies over land use,
particularly in Kalimantan where precious forests are under threat.
The widespread illegal felling of Borneo's prized trees are pushing
indigenous people to abandon the land they have occupied for centuries, many
willingly taking cash and sometimes jobs from the loggers.
"These findings will help decision-makers hopefully make more informed
choices. They will have some idea about how their decisions might impact on
local people," Clough said.
Dounias, who presented his team's findings to local leaders at a meeting in
Malinau last month in the hope that they will pass them on to Punan
communities, says their study also applies to hunter-gatherer's worldwide.
These include pygmy tribes in Cameroon and the Central African Republic,
whom he has studied for 15 years, and the Yamonami people of Brazil's
Amazonian rain forests.

QUESTIONS ON PRISON FOOD
Back in 1954, the New York Giants swept the Cleveland Indians in four games
in the world series. One consequence of this spectacular end to the
baseball season that year is that Cleveland's Municipal baseball stadium
was left with huge stockpiles of hot dogs. But this was before the idea
that an all-beef (kosher if at all possible) hot dog was the best tasting
and most desired, so the hot dogs they had were full of fillers and who
knows what... And guess what? The prisoners in the Cuyahoga County Jail
were fed nothing but hot dogs for a very long time. One of those prisoners
was Dr. Sam H. Sheppard (See http://www.samreesesheppard.org ), who was
about to go to trial for the murder of his wife, Marilyn Sheppard. Dr.
Sheppard faced the death penalty but was sentenced to life. His conviction
was thrown out and ten years later he was acquitted at a new, fair,
trial. But it was those months in the Cuyahoga County Jail that would
prove, in part, to help end his life much earlier than should have been
expected. This information is all anecdotal, but one thing I learned while
I was hanging out with Sam Reese Sheppard during the civil trial (Sam sued
the State of Ohio for a "declaration of innocence" for his father in 2000 -
we lost) is that many of the people who were incarcerated in the Cuyahoga
County Jail that Fall ended up with liver problems. Dr. Sheppard's death
came about, in part, due to liver problems. Was it all those hot
dogs? Can we blame the New York Giants?
Who knows? But I thought that might be an interesting introduction to a

who have a military background. A few people responded, and one group
(that I know of) is TAKING ACTION!!!!
It is ***NEVER*** not strategic to stand up and say the death penalty is
WRONG, especially for those of us who dare to call ourselves
"abolitionists," and it is great when activists find ways to build bridges

Groups to protest death penalty

MONTPELIER – A number of organizations, including the American Civil
Liberties Union and Amnesty International, are gearing up to protest the
first death penalty trial in Vermont in almost half a century.
The protests will probably include picketing the federal courthouse in
Burlington where the trial of Donald Fell will take place, leafleting and a
letter writing campaign, said Allen Gilbert of the Vermont chapter of the
American Civil Liberties Union.
Two meetings are planned for next week, one in Montpelier and one in
Burlington, to plan strategy, Gilbert said.
"We're trying to coordinate activists so we can help the public understand
why capital punishment should not be an option in Vermont," Gilbert said.
"There are many different ways to help get that message across."
Gilbert said organizers would probably approach Vermont's Catholic Church
to see if members would join the protests.
Gloria Gibson, a spokeswoman for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington
which includes all of Vermont, said Bishop Kenneth Angell was an outspoken
opponent of the death penalty.
Gibson said Angell planned to issue a statement about the Fell case today.
Jury selection is getting under way this week in federal court to try Fell,
24, on charges that he kidnapped Teresca King from a Rutland shopping
center in November 2000 and killed her in New York State.
Fell, and a Co-defendenat Robert Lee, were arrested three days later in
Arkansas driving King's car. Lee hanged himself in prison in 2001.
Fell is charged with carjacking with death resulting – a federal criime
that carries the death penalty.
In 2002 the Justice Department decided to seek the death penalty against
him.
Vermont has not executed a prisoner since 1954 and the last person
sentenced to death was in 1957. For all practical purposes the state
eliminated the death penalty in 1965, although it wasn't formally abolished
until 1987.
Joshua Rubenstein, the Northeast Regional director of Amnesty
International, said he would be meeting with Gilbert and representatives of
a number of other Vermont groups to oppose the death penalty.
Amnesty International protested the federal death penalty trial in
Massachusetts of Gary Sampson, a man convicted in 2003 of federal charges
stemming from the killing two people in Massachusetts during a two-state
killing spree that resulted in the deaths of three people. Sampson was
sentenced to death last year, also under federal law.
"Amnesty takes a principled position against all death penalty cases,"
Rubenstein said.
But the organization also wants to ensure Fell is held accountable, if
convicted of the crime he is accused of committing, Rubenstein said.
"There are very active sincere people who absolutely want to see justice
done, but the government can do that without seeking the death penalty,"
Rubenstein said.

Erinnerungen und Gedanken
60 Jahre danach
von Michael Genner, Asyl in NotEs hat keine Entnazifizierung gegeben. Keine, die diesen Namen verdient:
keine Säuberung des Staatsapparats. Polizei und Justiz waren von Anfang an
unterwandert von Nazis und Vaterländischen Frontlern, auch das Bundesheer
seit seiner Gründung; die Universitäten ebenso.
Der Ungeist pflanzte sich fort in die nächste Akademikergeneration und
vergiftete das geistige Klima in diesem Land. "Heil Auschwitz" brüllten die
Burschenschafter, die 1965 für Borodajkewicz auf die Straße zogen. Und
mancher meiner Schulkameraden in einem humanistischen Gymnasium in Wien
sympathisierte mit ihnen unverhohlen.
In meiner Klasse war ich ein Außenseiter: neben katholischen Bauernburschen
und deutschnational geprägten Bürgerkindern der einzige "rote Jud'". Die
damaligen Konflikte haben mich für mein weiteres Leben geprägt.
1969, unter der Alleinherrschaft der ÖVP, saß ich wegen eines Mediendelikts
(eines Flugblatts, das ich unterschrieben hatte) in Untersuchungshaft. Ich
vergesse nie, was mein Untersuchungsrichter beim ersten Verhör zu mir sagte:
"Als ich so jung war wie Sie, war ich auch ein Idealist. Ich war
Nationalsozialist, in einer Zeit, wo noch fast niemand dabei war." Mit
diesen aufmunternden Worten sperrte er mich ein.
Natürlich lehnte ich ihn als U-Richter in einem politischen Prozeß wegen
Befangenheit ab. Immerhin protestierten auch Abgeordnete der SPÖ, unter
ihnen Christian Broda, der ansonsten ja für einen "Schlussstrich" unter die
braunen Flecken eintrat, gegen diesen Justizskandal.
Die Ermittlungen des U-Richters, der nur deshalb (angeblich) kein Nazi mehr
war, weil er seinen Idealismus verloren hatte, gipfelten in einer Anklage
gegen mich wegen "Verleitung zum Aufstand" (Höchststrafe 20 Jahre). Davon
sprachen mich die Geschworenen einstimmig frei. Sie verurteilten mich nur
wegen "Aufwiegelung" zu einem Monat, abgesessen durch die U-Haft. Ein
österreichischer Kompromiß.
Aber ich hatte meine Chance genützt, hatte mich selbst verteidigt, das
Medienecho war ein großer Schritt nach vorne. Und vor allem: mein Freispruch
in der Hauptsache war eine späte Niederlage der Nazijustiz.
Freilich ohne nachhaltigen Erfolg: Bald darauf (1971) überfielen braune
Schlägertrupps - angeführt von Unteroffizieren des Bundesheeres - die
Demonstration gegen Kreiskys rechtsradikalen Heeresminister Lütgendorf
(wobei sie freilich die Prügel bekamen, die sie verdienten).
Eine ernsthafte Aufarbeitung der Nazitradition dieses Landes begann erst
1986 mit der Bewegung gegen Waldheim. Weitere Meilensteine der verspäteten
Entnazifizierung der Hirne - wenn schon nicht des Staates - waren das
Lichtermeer gegen Haiders rassistisches Volksbegehren (1993) und die großen
Demonstrationen gegen den Schüssel-Haider-Pakt (Anfang 2000).
Und heute?
Das Haider-Schüssel-Regime ist immer noch an der Macht. Die Demonstrationen
des anderen Österreich hatten zunächst das Schlimmste verhindert. Aber die
Flüchtlingshatz, von Strasser begonnen, von Prokop und Miklautsch
verschärft, zeigt nur zu deutlich, wie die braune Zukunft Österreichs
aussehen soll.
Die Nazirülpser aus dem Bundesrat sind ekelhaft, die Empörung, die sie
auslösten, ist gut und recht - aber Vorsicht! Sie geht am Wesentlichen
vorbei.
Natürlich gehören Gudenus und - wie heißt der andere? - politisch
eliminiert. Und nicht nur das: der gesamtem Haiderei, der sie entstammen,
ist jeder Einfluß in unserem Land zu entziehen.
Aber selbst das änderte noch nichts an der rassistischen Struktur:
1.) Die Menschen, die in Österreich leben und arbeiten, sind in zwei Klassen
geteilt. Inländer und Ausländer. Demokratische Bürgerrechte gelten nur für
die einen. Die anderen sind Untertanen.
2.) Das Regime bereitet ein neues Anti-Asylgesetz vor. Flüchtlinge werden
dann in der Schubhaft verschwinden. Ohne Rechtsschutz. Im Gefängnis, wie
Verbrecher, während des ganzen Verfahrens. Auch ihren Rechtsberatern wird
mit Gefängnis gedroht. Wer aus Todesangst in den Hungerstreik tritt, wird
zwangsernährt. Selbst die am meisten gelitten haben, Traumatisierte und
Folteropfer, sollen abgeschoben werden.
Das ist die rassistische Schande Österreichs, im Gedankjahr - 60 Jahre
danach.
Die von den Nazis ermordeten Deserteure sind tot. Sie haben ein ehrendes
Gedenken verdient. Die Flüchtlinge, die Schüssel - mit Haider im Bund - über
"sichere" Dublinstaaten in Putins Folterlager abschieben will, leben
vorläufig noch.
Sie können gerettet werden, wenn diese Regierung rechtzeitig stürzt.
Dann - vielleicht! - werden die Menschenrechte wieder gelten in unserem
Land.
