STOP THE RAIDS COMMUNIQUÉ

STOP THE RAIDS! STOP THE MURDERS! STOP THE WAR AGAINST MIGRANTS!
TO ALL MIGRANT COMMUNITIES, TO OUR SISTERS AND BROTHERS IN STRUGGLE:

The US government continues waging a war against migrants. Nationally, raids and murders are targeting our community:

December 12, 2006- The US government, Homeland Security, and the Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) raided and kidnapped migrants across the states of Colorado, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Iowa, and Minnesota.1,282 workers were arrested at Swift Corporation worksites.

January 13, 2007 – 22 year-old Francisco Dominguez of Puebla , Mexico , was shot to death by an unidentified Border Patrol agent in Naco , AZ.

January 23, 2007 - Federal officials announced the arrest of 761
undocumented migrants in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and 24 in Baltimore , Maryland .

January 27, 2007 - Four men in military fatigues confronted 12 migrants in Arizona , killing one man and shooting a teenager.

February 14, 2007 - ICE agents detained an unspecified number of people at their jobs in San Francisco . Raids have also been reported in Richmond , San Pablo and other parts of the Bay Area.

February 22, 2007 - In a nationwide sweep across 17 states and the District of Columbia , immigration officials arrested close to 200 undocumented migrants working for a janitorial company.

March 7, 2007- Federal officials detained 350 migrants at a
factory sweatshop in New Bedford , MA that made leather supplies for the US military. Kidnapped parents were immediately flown to a detention center in Texas , forced to abandon their children at schools and day-care centers.

March 10, 2007 - 10 workers from Mexico were arrested while working at Sun Dry Wall & Stucco Inc. in Sierra Vista, AZ.
Nationwide, federal authorities have kidnapped and detained a record 26,500 people this year. Since "Operation Return to Sender" was launched by the Department of Homeland Security in

June 2006, over 18,000 people have been abducted by ICE. All raids and murders must stop immediately! The government raids, imprisons, deports, murders, and terrorizes our community. These attacks are part of a larger war against our people, land, and culture. It is an attack on our self-determination. When will we break the silence and stand up to defend what is ours? "He was such a good, peaceful son," said the mother of Francisco Dominguez, murdered by a Border Patrol agent. "I can't sleep. I don't know how to get through this." Are we going to wait for our mothers, children or grandparents to be taken away? Are we going to wait for another sister or brother to be executed? When will we make justice for ourselves? The time to act is now!

Today, we are labeled "hispanics", "immigrants", "illegals", "aliens", "criminals", and "terrorists". We are indigenous people of the earth. The land belongs to those that plant the seeds, water the fields, grow the crops, serve the food, clean the buildings, and respect Mother Earth.

We must practice our autonomy and self-determination because w e cannot expect justice from this system. It is our responsibility to continue fighting until the demands of our people are met. This is a callout for our sisters and brothers to join the movement for unity, peace, and justice. Defend our people, land, and culture! Today we say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

· We demand an immediate end to all raids, kidnappings, deportations, and murders of our people!

· We demand the release of all migrant prisoners and the dismantling of all immigration detention centers!

· We demand an end to the border militarization! We call for the immediate withdrawal of all border patrol, homeland security, and armed forces from the US-Mexico border!

Our struggle is for peace, unity, justice, and freedom!

JOIN THE STRUGGLE FOR THE SURVIVAL OF OUR PEOPLE, LAND, AND FUTURE GENERATIONS!

"No puedo dormir.
